Abstract
When a rule fails to execute correctly, Pingwire displays an error message on the ping in the interface to help clarify what went wrong. Below is a guide to the four possible error ping messages and what they indicate.
1. “The data provider for this rule is not available”
This message appears when our system detects that the issue is related to an external data source. It means the rule itself is functioning correctly, but the necessary data could not be retrieved — typically due to a temporary outage or the unavailability of the configured data provider (e.g. SPAR).
2. “Error occurred during rule execution”
This is the system’s default fallback error message. It appears when our system detects that something went wrong, but cannot immediately determine the root cause. In these cases, our team have to investigates the underlying issue to determine the root cause.
3. “Missing required data provider info for this rule”
This error is shown when required input data is missing, preventing the data provider from fetching the necessary information. For example, if a rule requires an individual’s SSN to query SPAR but the SSN is not available, this error will be triggered.
4. “No data provider is setup for this rule”
This message means that the rule has been configured to use a data provider, but no data provider has actually been set up. To resolve this, a compatible data provider must be connected to the rule for it to execute successfully.
